On cold days, you may have an extra need for warmth. We have gathered some tips for effectively and sustainably utilizing heat.
Tips for effectively and sustainably utilizing heat:
- Keep windows and doors closed as much as possible. This helps to retain heat inside the home. If you do want to open windows, choose to do so during a relatively warm time of the day, such as during the day, and only for a short duration.
- Minimize nighttime temperature reduction. If your home cools down, it takes a lot of energy and time to bring the home back to the desired temperature.
- If you are away from home for a short period, it is not necessary to let the home cool down. If you are away for a night or a few nights, it may even be more sustainable to keep your home at temperature than to let it fully cool down.
